Master Michael Cunningham is a Cleveland, Ohio native, and a graduate of Brunswick High School. He began his martial arts training at the age of 6, taking a year of karate at the YMCA. He continued his training, moving on to tae kwon do at the age of 12, the discipline in which he is currently a Master.
